Smart Conveyor based material segreagtion system

Material handling is used widely in industries. With conveyors being used for material handling, it is necessary to segregate the material being transported over conveyor. This project involves smart conveyor based material segregation and sorting. The materials of different types are sent over the conveyor which carries the material form one point to another. At the destination a sensor is attached which detects the category of material being carried over the conveyor based on height of material. The segregating mechanism then separates the material smartly to the respective category. Thus this forms an automated solution to material segregation system on the basis of  height on single conveyor.

The main objective of this project is to develop smart conveyor which is can segregate items passing through it intelligently. This includes two important steps.

• To design & fabricate conveyor mechanism which can carry different types of parts on same conveyor.
• To design & implement smart system which will sense parts and will segregate according to its category on the basis of height

 

This conveyor implements the segregation of two different types of materials based on height. The materials to be segregated are sent over the separate conveyor after segregating on the basis of the height. The conveyor consists of sensors which sense the materials based on the height. The signals from the sensor are passed to the control system  which segregates the material into two different categories based on height.
