Railway accidents may occur due to the cracks on the track which is very difficult to find out.. Railways are one of the important transports in India. There is a need for manual checking to detect the crack on railway track and always railway personnel takes care of this issue, even though the inspection is made regularly. Sometimes the crack may go unnoticed. Because of this the train accident or derailment may occur. In order to avoid this this project proposes the solution of IOT based railway crack detection and cleaning system. The proposed project deals with the development of smart system which uses ultrasonic sensors for the purpose of detection of railway track cracks. The GPS modem interfaced with the project will fetch the exact geographical location of the cracks and send it to the concerned authorities using IOT. The proposed concept also deals with the development of IOT based control panel which will get the location of the crack and current location of the crack detection vehicle. The proposed system also implements the concept of visual inspection system over IOT which consists of camera mounted on the crack detection vehicle. When the crack is detected the image of the same will be captured and same will be sent to the concerned authorities using IOT which will permit them to inspect the cracks visually and take corrective action immediately. The proposed project also implements track cleaning system which will even clean the track when the vehicle is moving over the track. Further the vehicle is solar powered which will make it green and ecofriendly. The vehicle is made autonomous which will permit it to move autonomously to determine the railway crack.
